Fishing the Deveron

The Deveron is a hidden gem of a river flowing north east off the Grampian Mountains into the sea at Banff. It's medium size makes it easily covered and perfect for beginners and improvers yet varied and challenging for the experts too. Even though the Deveron can be prolific in its own right, it is over shadowed by its famous neighbouring rivers Spey and Dee which of course means, being less well known, it is very good value! The Deveron's salmon season is Feb 11th to October 31st with no Sunday fishing. (trout fishing is allowed on Sundays). Sea Trout fishing can be very good too. Henderson's Country Sports is the local centre for fishing supplies and river knowledge and manages the day permit sales. The Lune Rivers Trust is a charity dedicated to the conservation, protection, rehabilitation and improvement of the River Lune throughout its whole length and its associated tributaries in Cumbria, Yorkshire and North Lancashire. Our aim is to protect and improve the riverine habitat to encourage the biodiversity of the River Lune and its tributaries. They manage three fishing beats on the lower River Lune near Lancaster which offer excellent value salmon, sea trout, brown trout and coarse fishing.
