Two Night/Two Day Salmon Fishing Experience Events on South Tyne, Northumberland

The South Tyne is a magical English river which cuts its steep passage though the rolling grouse moors of the high Pennines to then march below Hadrian’s Wall on its way to meet its sister North Tyne at Hexham. This spate river can be very generous indeed with excellent runs of late summer and autumn salmon, as well as large sporting sea trout! The South Tyne is also the perfect size for beginners to enjoy, as the pools are all easily covered by fly and wading over knee height is rarely required. A fine South Tyne sea trout Our Salmon Fishing Experience days include what we all expect from quality salmon fishing days, namely, top quality accommodation (with plenty to do for non-fishing partners), fine food & wine (including lunch) and fabulous, fully guided salmon [...]

Lanrick Estate Beat on the River Teith

The Lanrick water is situated between Doune and Callander on the river Teith and extends for 3.5 miles of which 2 miles are single bank and 1.5miles are double bank fishing. There are 16 named pools amid a magnificent woodland and parkland setting. The river enjoys a traditional spring run from the opening day followed by an exciting sea trout run between March and July accompanied by a less predictable grilse run. An excellent autumn run continues from late August until the end of the season in October. The Teith has a well deserved reputation for some large fish and every year fish over 20lbs and even some over 30lbs are landed. See also http://www.lanrick.co.uk

Lambley Farm Salmon Fishing, South Tyne

The South Tyne runs through the beautiful land of Lambley Farm which has its own private salmon, sea trout and trout fishing beat. The fishing is double bank and about one and half miles long stretching from Lambley Viaduct to a couple of hundred yards below the road bridge. The South Tyne here at around 500ft is perhaps the last of the “lowland” beats as upstream the river climbs steeply over 1,300ft in just 20 miles to its source at Tynehead. Perhaps this is why the Lambley pools become well stocked with running salmon and sea trout which often rest in the big pools ready for the last dash up the ever steepening and shrinking river. The South Tyne is a “spate river” which means it rises and falls quickly depending on the rainfall on the high [...]

Fishing the Deveron

The Deveron is a hidden gem of a river flowing north east off the Grampian Mountains into the sea at Banff. It's medium size makes it easily covered and perfect for beginners and improvers yet varied and challenging for the experts too. Even though the Deveron can be prolific in its own right, it is over shadowed by its famous neighbouring rivers Spey and Dee which of course means, being less well known, it is very good value! The Deveron's salmon season is Feb 11th to October 31st with no Sunday fishing. (trout fishing is allowed on Sundays). Sea Trout fishing can be very good too. Henderson's Country Sports is the local centre for fishing supplies and river knowledge and manages the day permit sales. These can be purchased here or from their website Fishing the Deveron.   [...]

Portsmouth Services Fly Fishing Association

The Portsmouth Services Fly Fishing Association was formed in 1949 as a non-profit organisation, managed and run entirely by volunteers, to provide serving and retired members of all the Armed Forces, including their reserves, with reasonably-priced fly fishing on two of the finest chalk streams in Hampshire. That objective still remains to the present day, with the Association actively supporting conservation and charitable projects that complement the original aims. Quote from PSFFA: In 2017, the Portsmouth Services Fly Fishing Association (PSFFA) decided to update their website (www.psffa.org) to have not only a public section, but also a Member’s Only section that would incorporate a beat booking system, enabling Members to easily see which of our 14 beats were available and allow Members book a beat and receive confirmation instantly from a variety of platforms. After an extensive [...]

Dunlugas Estate, River Deveron

This is an excellent beat and is superb for sea-trout-given water and can produce large numbers of salmon. To buy a permit, click on any available day in the calendar below: The Points fishes well in high water for salmon but can be an excellent pool for Brown Trout. Indeed Dunlugas is a superb beat for trout and has some wonderful glides for the dry fly in April and May. The next pool down, The Greenbank is superb fly water and the fish tend to be towards the far bank in spring and autumn. This can also be a good holding spot for sea-trout. Boghead is a streamy pool and fish can be had right under the bank. Ensure you fish it right out every cast and to below the bottom tree at the tail. The next [...]
